First impressions matter, especially in the hospitality industry. And the recently renamed Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Holiday Marina at Holiday Isle in Islamorada, Fla., understands this.

Wanting to recapture the feel of a nostalgic American beach vacation that appeals to both couples and families, the property begun undergoing a $10.6 million renovation that included upgrades to the guestrooms, meeting space, main lobby and swimming pools, and more.

“Guest can expect a brand new Holiday Isle experience,” says Bob Van Bergen, managing director. “Upon arrival, they are greeted by a phenomenally-designed lobby. There's a large picnic table with board games, a movie projector showing movies on the wall, and a kids' play area with video games from the past, like Pac Man and Donkey Kong.”

“We are a great stopping point along A1A, whether guests are going to Key West or coming back.”

As for the 151 rooms (including 14 new Lanai suites), he comments they're “great.”  Appointed in what Van Bergen describes as “boathouse modern style,” the interiors feature white woods and sand-colored stripes, daybeds and large flat-screen televisions. Adding a whimsy and personal touch in the rooms are the hand-stenciled quotes on the walls from famous ocean lovers. As for the 14 new suites, all located on the ground floor open up to private sitting areas facing the beach.

For the beach itself (which Van Bergen says is “one of the beast beaches in the Keys”), guest can expect and enjoy brand new beach furniture to further enhance their overall experience on the property.

Perhaps the biggest addition to Postcard Inn  Beach Resort & Holiday Marina at Holiday Isle is the opening of the country's first Shula Burger.

“It's a great price point for us,” he says. “We were looking for something that would fit into the market. There are plenty of great restaurants, and with Shula Burger, we feel like we are filling a niche.”

“It's the only table service, fast-food, casual restaurant. It's a good size and has a nice wine room.”

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; and includes on its menu regional favorites such as conch fritters and smoked fish dip.

“Our property offers more of everything for guests for their Keys experience. More fun, more beach, more great rooms and more great accessibility.”
